Committee Charter and Goals
FOBANA 2009 will be held in Houston from July 2 to July 4, 2009. This year’s FOBANA’s theme is “1971 Liberation War”.
FOBANA 2009 is soliciting articles for publication in the commemorative FOBANA Magazine. The articles should be of general interest, and may include but not limited to the following suggested topics.
Essays, short stories, poems, artwork
Articles related to Bangladesh Liberation War
Interviews with prominent personalities (with national or international recognition)
Articles related to environment, culture, economics, science and technology
Everyone is invited to contribute to the 2009 FOBANA magazine. Attention to the following is advised.
Article submission deadline: May 1, 2009. Articles transmitted after this date may not be considered for publication.
Articles may be written in either English or Bengali. Use of both languages in the same article is acceptable only in special situation.
Articles should be of reasonable size. For example, essays and short stories may be limited to 2,000 words. All other items should be of one to two magazine pages (500 to 1000 words) each.
Articles must include author's name, address, phone number and e-mail address.
Previously published articles (in Bangladesh, India and North America) will be considered only from the author(s) in special cases, with appropriate acknowledgement and citation.
All articles should be sent electronically:
a. English articles – typed in MSWord, font size 12, Times New Roman
b. Bengali articles – typed using a Bengali font or hand-written clearly legible and double-spaced.
c. Hand-written Bengali articles may be faxed, or sent electronically in PDF.
All articles must be non-controversial (non-discriminatory, non-political and non-religious).
Articles will be subject to a review process (established by the FOBANA Magazine Committee and/or FOBANA Host Committee) before they can be accepted. Articles may be edited for consistency with the above guidelines.

10. The receipt of the articles will be acknowledged if sent electronically (with an e-mail address).
11. Articles (handwritten originals only) that are not accepted for publication may be returned to the author if requested with a self-addressed stamped envelope.
